During the initial days of the Islam religion in Madinah, the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) argued over ways of informing Muslims on the times of prayer. There was a hint of a bell, and some of a trumpet. Abdullah ibn Zaid (RA) then had a vision, a man appeared to him and instructed him in the adhan words. Sharing this dream with the Prophet (.RA), the Messenger of Allah verified this dream and ordered Bilal ibn Rabah (RA) — a person with a wonderful loud voice in Islamic history to read the first adhan in Islamic history.

The prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever says this after hearing the call to prayer, my intercession will be allowed to him on the Day of Judgment.
